I was not a fitness person but needed it! A friend recommended Core Principles and it’s been a great experience. They are fun, positive and challenge me but take my limits into consideration as well. Give them a try!!! I can see improvement after only 2 months.

This is the gym and trainer experience I have been seeking for decades. Every other trainer I saw in the past relied on a one-size-fits-all approach that resembled bootcamp tactics that wore me down quickly both mentally and physically. I'm not a traditionally athletic person, but I want to stay healthy and in shape. Other gyms push you to be an athlete with the stamina of a 20-year-old, but the team at Core Principles meets you where you are, just as you are, every single time. Workouts are just challenging enough but not impossible, and I can feel myself getting gradually stronger after just two months. I can't wait to see where I'll be six months from now.

The staff is excellent. You get a great workout and will definitely sweat. I am much stronger since I started and feel better without question. Highly recommend.

It is a truth insufficiently acknowledged that the contemporary fitness-industrial complex, in its unrelenting valorization of the hypertrophic and the twenty-three-year-old, has effectively abandoned those of us who have rounded the half-century mark and found ourselves regarding the squat rack with something between wariness and outright existential dread. Into this lacuna steps Core Principles Training of Stamford, an establishment that has accomplished the not-inconsiderable feat of rendering the pursuit of strength, endurance, proprioceptive competence, and that most fugitive of quantities, confidence, into an experience one anticipates rather than merely endures. The pedagogy here is meliorative rather than punitive; one is not exhorted so much as accompanied. Chief among the accompanists is Emily, a trainer whose gift for tonal calibration borders on the uncanny. She contrives, session after session, to be simultaneously rigorous and disarming, insisting on the work while somehow divesting it of its customary grimness, so that one arrives braced for penance and departs having been, improbably, entertained. That she does this while attending to a roomful of disparate bodies and their attendant idiosyncrasies suggests a species of situational intelligence rarely encountered outside the better sort of conductor. Administrative matters, that perennial solvent of goodwill, are dispatched with unfussy competence by Colleen, the office manager, whose accommodations are rendered so frictionlessly that one scarcely registers having required them; the highest compliment available to the genre. A final word on what is blessedly absent. Those arriving, as I did, from the conventional commercial gymnasium will recognize the ambient afflictions of that milieu: the vasculature-obsessed bro conducting his soliloquy in the mirror; the relentlessly effervescent overachiever; the percussive, cortisol-elevating music selected apparently by adversarial algorithm. Core Principles is the antithesis of all of it. What obtains instead is a kind of unpretentious collective seriousness, warm without being cloying, which turns out to be precisely the condition under which people over fifty actually get stronger. Unreservedly recommended.

I love this gym and their personal trainers. The training is superlative. The way it works here is that you are in groups of no more than six. They have top-flight equipment at each of the stations. The knowledgeable trainers gently guide you correcting your form for safety and efficacy (eg-oftentimes making the lift harder…!). Their facility is super clean and light filled, and the musical selections are great fun. The hour goes by so quickly as we all laugh hard while we work hard. Nobody is looking for a date here; we’re all here to improve our fitness in a safe and careful way. It’s absolutely everything I was looking for in a gym. I’m so grateful I found Core.

What's not to like about Core Principles? Small group (max. 6) setting, but with one-on-one personal attention. The trainers are encouraging, skilled, and supportive. The 50 minute sessions are total body workouts designed to address strength, flexibility, core, cardio, and balance. You work at your own pace with adjustments available for individual needs. I appreciate the focus on form and posture to minimize risk of injury. Highly recommend.
