The Secret To How Busy Proffesionals Take Care Of Themselves

It is easy to make excuses about not having enough time to
do anything for yourself. We all have stressors in our life that can leave us
feeling overwhelmed and like we are drowning.

One of the biggest stressors in most people’s life is their
work. Between long hours, mentally exhausting days, and constant traveling work
can be a huge burden on people’s health.

Unfortunately most of us have to work and can’t just quit
our jobs, what we can do though is do our best to control that stress and make
sure we leave some time for ourselves.

Today I want to share with you a few strategies one of our Super
Hero clients uses to help make herself a priority in a busy, and stressful
life.

Meet Karen.

Karen is a wife, mom, and a successful professional. Karen joined Core Principles just over a year ago. The biggest struggle for Karen is that she has to travel constantly for her job. It seems that every two weeks she is going somewhere for work. I’m sure at times it could have been easy for Karen to say “You know what I just can’t do this with my work schedule.”, but she never lets it get to her.

Karen is able to manage her busy schedule and stay on the path to success with 3 strategies I have noticed her do well.

The good thing about Karen’s schedule is that
it seems like she generally knows well in advance when she will be traveling
and when she will be back. She is constantly looking ahead at her schedule and
plans accordingly. Karen knows if she will be away for a week or so to get in
an extra session at the gym before she leaves. On top of planning her sessions
before she leaves she schedules her first session back beforehand.  This way she has made a commitment to us and
herself to get back in the gym when she is home.

Getting to the gym while

home

is only half of the battle for Karen. In order to boost her progress, she knows she should try to do something while she is away. Just because Karen can’t get her “normal” workout

in

does not mean she skips it all together. Karen focuses on just doing something while away. Whether that is getting a quick workout in at a hotel gym, going for a walk, or doing a boxing class with some friends, Karen always focuses on being active. Just like her exercise Karen has been working on some nutrition habits. She knows that she is limited in her food options while away and can’t control everything, but she can focus on simple good habits. While away Karen simply focuses on eating slowly and 80% full, things she absolutely can nail.

This third strategy may be the hardest for
some people but honestly can be the most beneficial. For some reason in today’s
society some people think that asking for help is a sign of weakness. I think
it is the exact opposite, I believe it is a sign of strength. Karen knows when
she needs help and is not afraid to ask for it. Whether it is a quick idea for
a workout, some strategies to help her with her nutrition, or just a little
motivation to keep her moving in the right direct she always asks when she
needs it. Karen recognizes what she can do on her own and when she could
benefit from a little help.

I know that there are other people out there in a similar position
to Karen. Stressed with time and work but also have some clear health and
fitness goals they want to achieve. I am here to tell you Core Principles is a
place that can help. Some people think our only job is to tell you to exercise
and eat boring food. We do much more than that, we are Sherpa’s helping
navigate you to where you want to be, well aware that we don’t know all the
answers but we are willing to share what has worked for clients in the past
just like Karen.
