4 Simple Tips For Working Out While On Vacation

With the summer here a lot of people end up traveling and getting out of there normal routine of working out.

It is easy to think that it is going to be hard getting back into your routine once you return, or that you will lose all of the progress you have made.

Now the only reason that will become a possibility is if you don’t do anything and all and say screw it all together. Yes, you might not be able to work out a few times a week for an hour at a time but let’s try to move away from the all or nothing mentality.

Think about doing what you can, even if it is 20-30 minutes, schedule it into your day and make it a priority.

Today I want to share with you a few helpful tips you can use next time you are traveling and struggling to get a workout in.

Mobility workout

In my opinion, there is something special about waking up early in the morning while on vacation, especially if you are near the beach. Waking up and doing a mobility workout or your normal warm-up is a great way to get the day started. It will get the feel-good juices flowing and prepare your body for all of the wonderful magic the day will hold.

I even made a super simple warm-up you can follow.

Go through it once, twice, three times, the more you go through it the more work you will do and probably burn an extra few calories.

Body Weight Strength Circuit

If you are looking for something a little more intense you can always do a bodyweight circuit and get the heart rate up a little more. Things like squats, push-ups, split squats, planks, and hip lifts are easy to do and do not require a lot of space.

Just like the mobility workout aim for a few rounds, obviously the move you do the more you will get out of it.

Pack Some Bands

If you still feel like bodyweight does not give you the intensity that you need you can always invest in and pack some bands when you travel. Bands are super lightweight and small but can provide a good amount of resistance if needed, they can even be used for pretty much any exercise.

Drop-In At A Gym
If you are traveling and want to try to get a full workout in a gym search for local gyms in the area that allow drop-ins. Some gyms will let you purchase a day pass or drop into one of their classes. You can call a few up or search on your Mindbody App.
Now be careful about taking any classes and make sure that you feel comfortable doing what they are teaching you. Often times the trainer won’t ask about any previous injuries or limitations so they won’t know what you can or cannot do. Don’t be afraid to speak up, if they are a good coach they will be able to modify on the fly and keep you safe.
Don’t use your vacation as an excuse to do absolutely nothing. You have worked so hard and come so far you should want to keep the progress rolling. You can still enjoy your vacation while getting in a few workouts.
